Here are three top dance studios to learn to dance whether it is Salsa, Tango or Cha Cha. In addition, all three studios have professional dance companies that offer dance performances that are amazing. We have attended events and dance instruction with all three and they have all performed at our store before. We can vouch for all. Musicians
Portland boasts some truly talented musicians. Here are four of our favorites.
Alfredo Muro is a truly talented guitarist equally comfortable with Flamenco, Brazilian Samba or Andean folk music of his native Peru.
We admit that Jazz Trio Dan Balmer is plays a lot more than Latin Jazz but Dan is truly one of our very favorite groups in Portland and definitely worth checking out. http://portland.citysearch.com/profile/41415034/
Performing in French, Spanish and English, Pink Martini offers a great international tour de force led by Portland piano virtuoso, Thomas Lauderdale. They are popular world wide and have performs as far away as Geneva. Xavier and the class band does not have a web site yet but if you hear they are performing definitely check them out. They are a Cuban ensemble offer beautiful classics from the Caribbean.

Noche. located in Old Town, is the newest Latin Dance Club in Portland with excellent live music. We attended their opening festivities and really enjoyed the music and the ambiance.
Fernandos is a venerable Portland Institution that has offered tasty Spanish Tapas for years with Salsa Friday and Saturday
H2O offers salsa dancing downtown on weekends.

Cultural Events Here some cultural events we have really enjoyed. Don't miss the largest Salsa Competition in Portland, the Gemini Salsa Competition coming this June 22-24, 2007. Special guests performers and instrctors coming from Puerto Rico, Tito and Tamara - and Salsa Legend Johnny Polanco y su conjunto Amistad. They will be coming with a new release CD. This event is associated with the Albert Torres Las Vegas Salsa Championship as seen on ESPN. For more details see: www.geminisalsa.com The NW International Film Festival is a must. See original art film from around the world including Europe and Sout America. Moda Nova's own Sheen Sisk performs this year with the Nutcracker and in Swan Lake. Not to be missed.
