The Moda Nova Vision At Moda Nova we love Latin* culture, fashion and lifestyle.
(*Latin: "Relating to the languages that developed from Latin, such as Italian, French, Spanish, and Portuguese, or to the peoples that speak them.")
Seasoned travelers know that whether it is the cafes of Buenos Aires, the Ramblas of Barcelona, the beaches of Rio de Janeiro or the boulevards of Montreal, Latin Women exhibit a certain style, confidence and attitude that shows their common cultural heritage - a celebration of and pride in their femininity that is a corner stone of Latin Lifestyle.
Moda Nova buys most of its apparel direct from independent international designers from South America, North America and Europe, many of them small businesses who have mainly served their local markets. At Moda Nova you will see new and interesting designs you will not see in other stores!
Latin women love fashion and style. In fashion centers like Barcelona, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Montreal and Sao Paulo you find beautiful apparel, footwear and accessories with contemporary design and top quality. Now you can find the same at Moda Nova!
Moda Nova is a fun store. When you enter you feel as though you are taking a trip with all the touch, sights, sounds and smells of the fashion capitals of the Latin World.
At Moda Nova we believe in small business and in supporting our fellow small business people. Because we care about small business we support www.technoserve.org, an organization dedicated to helping small business people in developing countries
Moda Nova was founded in January 2004 by Portland Entreprenuer and Harvard Business School OPM graduate Keith Kullberg with his wife Rocio Rios the former fashion editor for Colombia's Top National Newspaper - El Espectador. Moda Nova is Keith's second startup. His first startup, STEP Technology, was sold in 2001. Rocio and Keith are mixed Latina / Anglo couple, who in their own lives are building a bridge between cultures and who through Moda Nova hoped to build a bridge from the U.S. to the best of the Latin World.
In July of 2004 we were joined by Linda Olson, a fashion industry veteran and former buying manager for designer sportswear for I-Magnin. Working together we opened our first store at Pioneer Plance featuring "Fashion with Latin Passion" on November 11, 2004. Our vision is for our first store to become a national chain one day.
The symbol of Moda Nova is the southern cross, a constellation of stars located due south and only visible in southern latitudes.
Moda Nova brings you the best in contemporary Latin Couture by international designers from the lands of the southern cross.
Sincerely, Keith Rocio and Linda
